The Bar Examiner Community Guidelines

Welcome to The Bar Examiner community. This site is built to help people find, examine, and judge bar experiences fairly. These guidelines explain how to participate without turning the place into a digital bar fight.

In plain English: be honest, be useful, and be cool.

1. Submit Honest Evidence

Reviews, corrections, listing updates, photos, claims, reports, and suggestions should be based on real experience, good-faith information, or something you reasonably believe to be accurate.

Do not submit fake information, exaggerated claims, competitor sabotage, personal grudges, or nonsense dressed up as evidence.

2. Keep Reviews Useful

It is fine to criticize a bar, service, food, drinks, atmosphere, pricing, policies, or experience. Honest criticism helps other users.

But reviews should stay relevant to the bar experience. Personal attacks, threats, harassment, and unrelated drama do not help anyone choose where to go.

3. Don’t Be a Hostile Witness

The Bar Examiner is not a place for harassment, intimidation, doxing, cyberbullying, hate, threats, or coordinated abuse.

Do not post private personal information, target employees or patrons, create fake accounts, manipulate ratings, review-bomb businesses, spam the site, or try to poison the well.

4. Help Keep Listings Accurate

Bar details change. Hours, specials, events, menus, parking, seating, smoking areas, entertainment, and policies can all change without warning.

If you spot outdated or missing information, submit a correction when possible. Useful updates help the whole jury.

5. Bar Owners and Representatives

Owners, managers, and authorized representatives may be able to claim or manage listings. If you submit a claim or update a business listing, you should be authorized to do so.

Claiming a listing does not give anyone the right to remove honest criticism, manipulate reviews, retaliate against users, or misrepresent business information.

6. Moderation

The Bar Examiner may review, edit, hide, reject, remove, or limit content that appears abusive, fake, spammy, misleading, manipulated, irrelevant, or inconsistent with these guidelines.

Accounts, claims, submissions, reviews, or features may be limited, suspended, or removed if needed to protect the site, users, listings, or community.

7. Use Your Judgment

TBE is a starting point, not sworn testimony. We try to keep information useful, but users should confirm important details directly with the business when needed.

We examine. You judge.

Final Word from the Bailiff

Bring useful evidence. Leave the pitchfork at home.

If you threaten people, dox users, fake reviews, manipulate listings, harass businesses, spam the site, or generally act like a menace, you may be removed from the premises.

In other words: break the rules, and you may get bounced by the bailiff.
